WHY OWNER-RETAINED HORSES MATTER

Across all three sales, 83 horses were owner-retained, representing a combined $12,526,000 in auction bid value.

Unlike a traditional completed sale, an owner-retained transaction occurs when a consignor elects to retain ownership of their horse through the auction process.

For Old West, these numbers tell an important part of the story.

Owners are not simply bringing horses to market. Many are choosing to keep their prospects and continue investing in their future, including the opportunity to compete for significant incentives available to eligible Old West Sale Graduates.

The owner-retained figures represent auction bid values, not additional completed sales revenue, but they help illustrate the continued investment and confidence within the program.

THE SALE IS JUST THE BEGINNING

What makes the Old West Horse Sales unique is that the opportunity doesn't end when the final horse leaves the sale ring.

The Old West Sale Graduate program creates additional earning opportunities for eligible horses competing in future events, including significant incentive payouts and the opportunity to compete for the Million Dollar Bonus.

The sale program, together with the support of Old West Elite Partners, helps make these opportunities possible—rewarding the owners, breeders, trainers, and competitors who continue to invest in the future of the rope horse industry.

As Old West looks ahead to 2027, the goal remains the same: to create meaningful opportunities for horses and horsemen, strengthen the industry, and continue building a program where the rewards extend far beyond the sale ring.

THANK YOU TO OUR CONSIGNORS, BUYERS & PARTNERS

The success of the 2026 Old West Horse Sales would not be possible without the consignors who bring exceptional horses to the sale, the buyers who invest in their potential, and the partners who help create opportunities for the next generation.

Thank you for being part of an incredible year. We look forward to seeing what these horses accomplish in 2027 and beyond.
